TF-CSIRT TRANSITS

TRANSITS offers cost-effective, high-quality training designed to equip both newcomers and experienced personnel with the skills and knowledge needed to establish and operate in the incident management field effectively. The TRANSITS programme exists of a set of training courses and modules that combine theoretical content with practical, hands-on exercises, and are suitable for staff from CSIRTs, SOCs, ISACs, PSIRTs, and related teams. The trainers are seasoned experts with many years of real-life experience in this field.

Your Path to Cybersecurity Excellence

TRANSITS I

The TRANSITS I training course is a 3-day introductory incident management course primarily aimed at less experienced incident handling personnel - or those working for such teams in less technical roles - who wish to gain a solid understanding in the main aspects of working in an incident management team, be it a CSIRT, SOC, ISAC or PSIRT. It offers experience and expertise in the organisational, operational and legal areas, plus an introduction into technical aspects - which form your knowledge base. Practical exercises make sure that the theory also is grounded in real-life incident response.

TRANSITS Extended (formerly "II")

The TRANSITS Extended (formerly named TRANSITS II) portfolio is a set of diverse training modules aimed at experienced personnel working for established incident management entities. These modules provide deeper knowledge and experience in key incident management areas, mostly in operations, but also in the human area (e.g. how to improve communications with constituents), along with practical exercises. The TRANSITS Extended modules are diverse as to allow the formation of specific training courses for specific occasions or goals - growing from the original TRANSITS II course towards a "library" of training modules.

NOTE

From TRANSITS' early beginnings until recently, GÉANT was operating the TF-CSIRT TRANSITS courses. In the process of TF-CSIRT standing on its own feet since 2022, the operation of TRANSITS courses and the maintenance of the materials, have now also moved to TF-CSIRT. The last course that GÉANT is running on behalf of TF-CSIRT is TRANSITS I in Sep 2025 in Prague.

TF-CSIRT wants to express a very strong "Thank you!" to the GÉANT team led by Nicole Harris for many years of successful trainings. TF-CSIRT and GÉANT continue to work together on cybersecurity matters, for the benefit of both their communities.

Of course, TF-CSIRT continues the successful series of TRANSITS courses, including their continuous improvement. Announcements for future trainings, both TRANSITS I and TRANSITS Extended (formerly "II") are found on these pages.

Bespoke Courses / In-house Training

TF-CSIRT through its community members is able to support bespoke courses and in-house training for countries or organisations that ask for a customised TRANSITS course. Please contact us if you are interested.

Where we are not able to support such a course, we are happy to recommend organisations who may be able to run TRANSITS courses for you. In order to be recommended by us the organisation must:

  • have successfully delivered TRANSITS trainings to a standard that is approved by the TF-CSIRT Steering Committee;
  • use trainers that have attended TRANSITS and TRANSITS Train the Trainer courses themselves;
  • have trainers capable of offering all required TRANSITS modules;
  • have the ability to manage all aspects of course delivery on-site.
