TF-CSIRT Steering Committee: Candidates 2025

Information about the election processs will be sent to voting team representatives directly via e-mail if you are eligible to vote. The voting representatives MUST have a valid TI user certificate to be able to vote. Only one vote per team will be accepted, but teams can change their vote until the voting period ends – team representatives can check their voter status with Trusted Introducer.

There are two elections - SC chair first - therefore two independent votes will be taken in September. It is not necessary, that the voting representative participating in the first vote (SC chair) is the same that participates in the second vote (SC).

As a reminder, only TI Accredited or TI Certified teams are eligible to vote in elections. The election rules can be found in the TF-CSIRT House Rules.

Information about each of the candidates (ordered alphabetically by last name) is included below to help you with voting.

We currently have four candidates for the TF-CSIRT Steering Committee positions.

Vilius Benetis

My name is Vilius Benetis, and I am from the NRD CIRT in Lithuania.

I am currently a member of the Steering Committee and am finishing my term in September.

If I am re-elected to the Steering Committee, I would like to focus on strengthening the national ecosystems of incident response teams and introducing national TF-CSIRT ambassadors. This would foster more national and local value for TF-CSIRT members, inspire more teams to join TF-CSIRT, and build trust and a sense of community among incident responders through practical actions.

As someone who works globally, I feel that the TF-CSIRT community has a unique culture, mindset, and warmth that can create even more value for existing and new members if it is properly and carefully governed.

Marko Krstic

My name is Marko Krstic, and I am excited to stand as a candidate for the TF-CSIRT Steering Committee. I bring both practical and academic experience: for the last three years I have been leading SRB-CERT, the national CERT of Serbia, where I am working hands-on with incident response, capacity building, and international cooperation. On the other side, my academic background is related to innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning which I implemented during my PhD studies in Serbia and PostDoc studies in Cyprus.

I’ve always believed that knowledge and tools should be shared. That’s why I helped make the Transits I like course more widely available in our region and started working on an open-source project to support CERT management and help teams reach higher SIM3 maturity levels. On the academic side, I co-authored Machine Learning Applications in Computer Emergency Response Team Operations and contributed to EU projects applying AI in digital forensics and children protection on the Internet.

I’m also proud to have been among the first mentors in Women4Cyber at EU level, supporting greater diversity in cybersecurity. Colleagues know me as easy-going, collaborative, and passionate about using technology for socially useful applications. I have significant engagement both in the cybersecurity community in Serbia and in activities in the Western Balkans region. I gladly participate in all activities aimed at improving cybersecurity and I intend to continue to promote the principles, values and best practices established in the international community in this area.

If elected, I want to keep strengthening our community with open-source tools, inclusive opportunities, and shared knowledge.
